Creating Lasting Community Change

Investing in Soul and Sound CIC means investing in the future of our communities. By addressing the root causes of health disparities, mental health struggles, and social isolation, we are building a foundation for long-term change.

Our innovative model of reinvesting event proceeds into community-focused initiatives ensures that every Jus Jammin event not only entertains but also enriches the lives of those in need.

Together, we can tackle the systemic challenges facing deprived areas, breaking cycles of poor health, food insecurity, and social deprivation. Soul and Sound CIC represents hope, creativity, and progress—a movement that transforms lives, one meal and one community at a time.

Why It’s Important to Each Family and the Wider Community

For families, our workshops offer practical tools to combat the negative effects of fast food and food insecurity. Participants learn to prepare affordable, nutritious, and delicious plant-based meals, gaining lifelong skills that promote better physical and mental health. Beyond the kitchen, these workshops serve as a space for families to connect, share experiences, and support one another, fostering a sense of unity and mutual growth.

For the wider community, our work creates ripples of positive impact. By investing in local talent—hiring local cookery instructors, support staff, and volunteers—we stimulate economic activity and empower residents. Additionally, reducing the reliance on fast food through education and skill-building contributes to healthier neighbourhoods, ultimately leading to a decrease in crime and antisocial behaviour.

Why We Do What We Do

Socially deprived communities face significant challenges, including limited access to nutritious food, high concentrations of fast-food outlets, and the health and mental well-being issues associated with these environments. Children in these neighbourhoods are disproportionately affected, with higher rates of obesity, poor health, and food insecurity—all of which contribute to long-term physical and mental health concerns.

By using the proceeds from our Jus Jammin events to fund free, community-focused plant-based cooking workshops, we directly address these challenges. Our workshops empower families with the knowledge and skills to make healthier food choices, improve their mental well-being, and strengthen connections within their community.
